Youtube is an online platform where anyone can create an account an load videos. Then anyone can see your videos and you can see everyone else’s. It is often used for music videos, you can see most of the Artist musics clips and so on. There are millions of videos, an thousands get uploaded every day. You can see any thing, sports, music, humor, tipps, tutorials, news, replays etc. Recently youtube has been bought by the internet giant Google.

Google is known mostly for it’s search engine. It is the best and the mosted used. There are others such as Bing and Ask, but they do not have as much succes as Google. Google is also specialised in adds, most of the adds you see on the internet a sponsored by google. They develop and work in many other areas as well. For instance they create an new internet browser a few years ago, it is called Google Chrome, it is now the best and fastest browser available. Although Mozilla still has more users Chrome is doing very well.

An other development of is google Maps, an online site where you can view the maps of all the around the world. You can also lookup different center of interest such as restaurants, offices, any addresse, night clubs etc. There is also a route planner option, with which you can setup your destination a see the best route to take and how long the trip will be. You can switch through the different view modes, such as the satelite mode, which shows you can aerial view. Recently they have added the Street view option, where you can get a image of the street viewed by a car. You can then discover different areas and see how they look like. It is a good option, that why you know a bit how your end destination looks like.

There are several web browser available but they are not all very efficient. The default browser on windows is Internet Explorer and on MAC it is Safari. Internet explorer is known to be one of the worst browsers. It is slow, you get much more advertising, pop up windows open all the time, flooding you with spam and slowing down you computer. Furtheremore websites nowerdays are designed to work better with Mozilla firefox, safari and google Chrome. Therefore you display on IE might not be the same, some elements might not load correctly etc. So when you get a new computer you must absolutely download an other browser, and set it as default.

Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are both very good web browsers, they are both fast and light. Most websites are now designed for these browsers. They are both free and easy to download and install. Some of their latest features are Private web browsing and instant google search. The private web browsing is an option you can turn on, once on your browser will no longer save the cookies and history of your navigation, this is usefull if you are going log onto your ebanking account and do transactions. That way no one else can see certain of your details. The other option enables you to do google request by directly typing in the website name box your search request. Then the google page corresponding to your search will open. Google Chrome is quite recent and google spend a lot of budget on it, it is therefore known to be the fastest browser at the moment. Firefox is pretty similar, and in their latest version they have changed the design, it now looks similar to the light but effective style of Chrome. Other browsers such as Safari and Opera also quite good but they are not as commonly used.

Programming is when with a programming language you create a program with a specific behavior which you design. To be able to propgram you need to know a programming language, there are several languages, such as Javascript, C, C++, Php, SQL, JAVA etc. They are each designed for different applications. Programmers write their code in a program, this program translates the code into a binary code, which is understood by the computer. This is the job of a compilater. Compiling is when the programming language gets transformed into a binary code. A binary code  is a succesion of “1″ and “0″,  basically “1″ means “on” and “0″ means “off”. This is how the computer functions. For example everything stored on the hard drive is coded into these series of ones and zeros. And an other program reads the information and translates it so that we humans can understand it. It then becomes an image, video, text etc.

Programmers are the people how design the programs we use on the computer. They have often studied years in order to know several programming languages and to be able to do different sort of programs.

They also use debugging programs in oder to make sure that their code is correct and does not have any faults. Other wise it could have serious consequences for the computer. For example the program could run non stop, for infinity and could be impossible to stop. That wouldn’t be very usefull and would blog the computer. Or it could malfunction and not give the expected result. It could also change some essentiel settings of the computer and this could result in the computer not being able to start or load.

There are several programs that can be used to program, such as code::blocks or Notepad++. They are free and easy to use.

FPS stands for First Person Shooter, most shooting games are FPS, it means you see through the eyes of your caracter will see your weapon. In most FPS games you have fire arm weapons and you objective is to kill enemys. The most well known FPS are Call of Duty, Halo etc. Most of these games have an online mode, enabling you to play with thousands of other users from all around the globe. You can play in solo mode or in teams.

MMO stand for Mass Multiplayer Online, nowerdays most games have an MMO feature.

MMORPG stands for Mass Multiplayer Role Online Playing Game, in these games you have an arial view or a third person view of the action / caracter. They are obvioulsy played online and the game happens in roles. The most well known MMROPG are from the Blizzard games company. They created the Warcraft series, and their most famous game is World of Warcraft, where you create a caracter, can choice the race (elf, dwarf, human etc), job, specialty etc. And then your objectiv is to gain levels by accomplishing quests and fighting. This is a very addictive game and has millions of players.

People who play computer games all the time are called No-lifes, because they do not have a social life. This phenomena has encreased a lot with MMROPGs, especially in Japan, where  they are big fans of video games. In some extra cases some gamers have played for more than 3 days in a row without any sleep or meals. And in a few of these extreme scenarios gamers have died from starvation of dehydration. All of that for a video game.

Geeks are nerds, or people who are often very good in math and sciences and love computers. Most of them spend all their time on computers playing games or programming. Most geeks are also no-lifes. People who are anti-social or like being alone.
